* Untitled Yoongi fanart by jjooSG93 - V. swoon-worthy piece based on the BTS x LV photospread on Korea GQ and Vogue back in December 2021.
* Permission to Cut by Aris_art_hell - Cute RM fanart based on his 7/11/21 Weverse post showing off his new haircut + his 7/15 vlive. (I know it's a bit more context than needed, but eh, there we are, LOL).
Context for the next two recs: earlier this month, Seokjin posted a new version of him talking on the phone--in which the "phone" is some kind of giant prawn. (He did this back in 2019, iirc.) Anyhoo, like all things BTS-related, the fanartists have been having fun…
* Hello? by shogetsu9339 - Tremendously cute mini-comic featuring cat shifter!Yoongi and surprise appearance from Jungkook.
* lobster man by _SilMartin - Ah, Seokjin's penchant for bad/dad jokes is on full display in these two panels. XD
FICS
* tomorrow, then eventually by potter (General audiences, pre-Yoongi/Taehyung, 5.7k) - This is a quietly domestic, post-disbandment fic in which Yoongi and Taehyung begin to spend time more and more time together even as their professional careers have diverged.
I loved the gentleness throughout the story. Also the way that the author showed what for many is a sensitive topic (BTS going on indefinite hiatus/disbanding) as something that leaves the members feeling unmoored. And yet, BTS will always be 7, so they're all still connected.
The romance (which, again, it's pre-slash) is of the every-day-what-are-we-having-for-dinner-tonight type of way. Neither Yoongi nor Taehyung are in a hurry to acknowledge the new kind of bond developing between them. And it works because the story is more about how things grow instead of making the characters jump in the sack and boink at all hours. Don't get me wrong, tho, I love those other kinds of stories too!
But, again, the slowed down pace fits this specific fic in a way that I found really satisfying. Go figure!
FTR, stories in which a character rebuffs another (only to, inevitably, be won over by the end) aren't my cuppa most of the time. Mainly because usually it means that a character will be somewhat manipulative in a way?
BUT, this fic steps away from that kind of narrative by having both characters acknowledge why their assumptions abt each other are wrong. It's good to see characters being challenged in such a way. Even better is how the end results are positive both for the characters individually as well as for their relationship.
I'm making it sound wayyy more serious than it actually is. The story takes its time to get the characters together; it's almost impossible to not be charmed by this fic.
Le Bangtan Sonyeondan fanworks for this week. 🥰
