Welcome to Rec the Thing! This is a comm for reccing fanworks you love and requesting recs for fanworks you're looking for. Recs for fic, fanart, vids, and other forms of fanwork are all welcome here. Our definition of fanwork is very loose: if it can be posted to AO3, you can rec it here. :)
We have three kinds of posts here:
1. Recs Posts where you rec one or more things you liked. You can include recs in the post itself, or you can link back to the recs posted on your own blog/tumblr/etc.
2. Request Posts where you ask for recs of a particular type. These requests can very specific ("Vids about Sam Wilson, please!"), very broad ("Please rec me your favorite pining fic"), or anything in between. Other folks reply with recs that fit the criteria. Self-reccing is welcome here, as long as it fits the request!
3. Community Recs Posts every Thursday, where anyone who wants to can comment with recs.
General guidelines:
( behind the cut! )
Feel free to comment in replies to this post if you have questions or concerns!

glitteryvEvery Thursday, we have a community post, just like this one, where you can drop a rec or five in the comments.
This works great if you only have one rec and don't want to make a whole post for it, or if you don't have a DW account, or if you're shy. ;)
(But don't forget: you can deffo make posts of your own seven days a week. ;D!)
So what cool fics/fanarts/podfics/fanvids/fancrafts/other kinds of fanworks have we discovered this week? Drop it in the comments below. Anon comment is enabled.
BTW, AI fanworks are not eligible for reccing at recthething. If you aware that a fanwork is AI-generated, please do not rec it here.

Merlin, Iron Man, Avengers, White Collar
Sep. 19th, 2026 01:59 pmyourlibrarian- Bread & Roses by rosalindscotch. Merlin fusion with the movie Pride (2014). I enjoyed this movie and found this to be a sweet adaptation of a film with a lot of heart.
- Concession by obsession_inc. A great premise and wonderful execution. "An AU diverging from canon after the first movie: Christine Everhart investigates the disappearance of Tony Stark and Pepper Potts." A mystery whose solution gets revealed bit by bit and the end result is not pretty.
- Sunrise in Exile by Ragdoll (Keshka). "Tony does the math and realizes their best chance to save the universe is by... not confronting Thanos on his own turf. So he steals a wizard and a spider and a space ship. And he runs." Late in the story there's a reference to their path through the universe as a futuristic Odyssey. There's something to that. Eventual Tony/Stephen, but it's not the main point of the story, and I love the way it's described in the last few chapters. An adventure worth taking.
- grim from the reaping by bedlamsbard. An Avengers series that begins after Infinity War and supposes a different direction for the remaining Avengers. The main difference? It is Loki who survives rather than Thor. Told in two main parts, the first section is a separate adventure revolving around Steve, the hunt for the supersoldier serum, and the beginnings of New Asgard on Earth. The second part envisages a similar but different path through Endgame. Deeply plotted and told mostly from Natasha's POV, it pays some tribute to the fallout from the Snap as well as the way the survivors hang together.
- The New Monuments Men by Sholio. White Collar AU where "Neal leads a gang of thieves who steal artifacts and return them to their rightful owners. FBI agent Peter Burke infiltrates their group to take them down. But the more Peter learns about their mission, the more doubts he has about his." Did a nice job of showing Peter slowly shifting away from his life and finding a role within Neal's group.

Summary:
Podfic of 'Goodfellow' by Beatrice_Otter
There had been thefts at three successive Goblin Markets, and one incident of serious vandalism, before Robin Goodfellow had deigned to call in the munificent arm of the law—in this case, the Special Assessment Unit, colloquially known as the Folly, and disparagingly called the Isaacs by the demi-monde. Which just goes to show that after over a century of alternating condescension, neglect, and active persecution, it takes more than a few years of community-focused policing to change community perception. Even when that policing is being done by a handsome and charismatic DC such as myself.
But there are also a lot of other great fics which you should totally check out! My favorites are:
( Murderbot, Babylon 5, Elementary/DC, TOS, Andor )
sholioI just wanted to drop in and rec this to B5 fans! There's an incredibly prolific fanartist and writer ![[archiveofourown.org profile]](https://archiveofourown.org/favicon.ico)
Jameson9101322 / ![[tumblr.com profile]](https://www.tumblr.com/favicon.ico)
jenniferstolzer / babylon6comic who has had a Babylon 5 virtual 6th season fan comic going since 2018. The artist updates weekly, so there are over 400 pages so far (broken into episodes, each with its own story arc), and it's still ongoing.
Series page on AO3 here, new pages also update onbabylon6comic on Tumblr.
I've been following this for a while and always look forward to updates! The artist has an incredibly charming, engaging style and just about every major and minor character from the show appears. The plot starts off canon-compliant (where things were at the end of season 5 before the timeskip) and pulls in various post-canon plot elements from other sources (the movies and books, Crusade, etc) but is definitely doing its own thing. It's sweet, twisty, interesting, and a whole lot of fun, basically the next best thing to another season. The current episode is wrapping up - page count indicates there are a couple of months to go before the end - so this might be a good place to jump on board.
The artist also has an absolute ton of (also incredibly charming and well done!) fanart at their Babylon 5 tag on Tumblr. Gen and canon pairings for the most part.
