Community Recs Post!

Every Thursday, we have a community post, just like this one, where you can drop a rec or five in the comments.

This works great if you only have one rec and don't want to make a whole post for it, or if you don't have a DW account, or if you're shy. ;)

(But don't forget: you can deffo make posts of your own seven days a week. ;D!)

So what cool fics/fancrafts/fanart/fanvids/podfics/some other kind of fanwork have we discovered this week? Drop it in the comments below. Anon comment is enabled

It's October! Let's have some spooky Our Flag Means Death!

The Drip Finally Stops by MooseMan: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39753636
Violence, major character death on and off camera. Major depression. Ghosts. Just ghosts allllllllll over the place. Of course being a dead major character doesn't necessarily keep an OFMD character down. Anyway, here's Edward Teach's last raid. Loosely based on the real thing, so history demands that Izzy Hands escape to be a character in Treasure Island. MooseMan has mercy on Ed and the reader, so his end isn't as...extended as the real Blackbeard's.

Who Said You Needed To Be Alive To Captain? again by MooseMan: https://archiveofourown.org/works/38799900
Major character death because that's how you get ghosts. 1717, the golden age of piracy. Wealthy landowner Stede Bonnet set out to find adventure and renown on the high seas. Things did not go as planned BECAUSE HE @#$%ING IMMEDIATELY DIES. Good thing his first hire was a demented sea witch and his seagull pal.

haunted by the ghost of you (take me back to the night we met) by bayaningbituon: https://archiveofourown.org/works/42052104
All together now: MAJOR CHARACTER DEATHS. "The ship is haunted," we are told, and boy howdy is it ever. Scary, goth-y, tragic, romantic, and ED JUST FOR ONCE YOU REALLY NEED TO LISTEN TO YOUR CREW ON THIS but you're not gonna. We know you, Ed.

I may have recommended this before, but as a supernatural palette cleanser: in the margins by weatheredlaw: https://archiveofourown.org/works/38143456
Stede and Ed die. I mean, everybody does, but still, it's a total bummer, man. Two-plus centuries later, Stede Bonnet is depressed, divorced, hates his job, and finds himself unable to stop watching Love Island. He does like books, which leads to a conversation with a biker dude in a sandwich shop.
