Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok is one of my very favorite MCU characters, and I've collected here some of my favorite works focused on her. <3

What Heroes Do by AliceinKinkland
Valkyrie-centric Val/Loki, 5k. One of my foundational stories for Valkyrie. I love how it touches on her history as a slaver. I love her dynamic with Loki, as another person with very mixed feelings about Asgard, trying to reinvent himself and figure out who he is. Everything about it is good. <3

the valiant never taste of death but once by Ias
Valkyrie/Blonde Valkyrie, Valkyrie/Hela, 18k. This is a look at the end of Asgard’s era of conquest, through Val’s eyes. This is just brutal in the best way. I love the psychology here of Val and her commander gf, and also Val and Hela, how Val has never really believed in Asgard’s shining ideal and ends up being drawn to Hela as someone who embodies the opposite of it. Just really interesting stuff here.

the ghost and good queen val by Wildehack
Valkyrie/Loki/Thor, 8k. Valkyrie with what remain of the refugees, after Loki and Thor are presumed dead. Post-IW fixit from Val’s perspective, with flashbacks. I love everything about this—Val as grudging leader of the remaining refugees because she’s the only one left, Val and Loki in their prickly FWB situation while they both are in love with Thor, Loki and his magical sleeves interdimensional cupboard. The voices are great, the humor and the grief is great. A+++.

Valkyrie + Bruce, 2k. In which they come to terms with each other, a little. Great voices, very funny, great characterization.

Valkyrie/Bruce, 12k. After Ragnarok, Val talks the Hulk and Bruce into a truce. I love how much Val and the Hulk just really enjoy each other, and how Val and Bruce build something between them, too, despite not being sure what to make of each other at first. I am absolutely in denial about the final scene.

Carol/Valkyrie, 5k. Carol hires Valkyrie to help her on a rescue mission. The voices and dynamic here is great, and I freaking love the body horror elements, as they're rescuing folks from, as the notes warn for, "forced roboticization." :D :D :D

The Slow Death of Winter by misura
Valkyrie/Hela, 2k. In which Valkyrie ends up locked in Hela's prison, and Hela has reasons to keep her alive. Hilariously awkward hurt/comfort, less murder and sadism than one might expect, and Hela's narrative voice is great.

Nostalgic by thedevilchicken
Valkyrie/Hela, 1k. Val thinks back on the time Hela had Valkyrie eat her out on the throne of Asgard. This is short but packs a hell of a punch, with a great last line. Also: scorching hot.

Valkyrie/Loki, 6k. Sparring leads to fucking; after the first couple of times it happens, Loki's feelings start to get more complicated. I liked their dynamic here, and the sex is 🔥.

Port Out, Starboard Home by scioscribe
Valkyrie/Loki, 15k. Post-Ragnarok, Loki is pregnant and blue and Val marries him to protect him from various threats. I also love fic where Loki is forced to deal with being Jotun, and then Val is so great in this, and the romance is so sweet and understated and yet feels like it goes really deep, under the sarcasm and teasing. My heart. ;_;
