Reccing Guidelines
Welcome to Rec the Thing! This is a comm for reccing fanworks you love and requesting recs for fanworks you're looking for. Recs for fic, fanart, vids, and other forms of fanwork are all welcome here. Our definition of fanwork is very loose: if it can be posted to AO3, you can rec it here. :)
We have three kinds of posts here:
1. Recs Posts where you rec one or more things you liked. You can include recs in the post itself, or you can link back to the recs posted on your own blog/tumblr/etc.
2. Request Posts where you ask for recs of a particular type. These requests can very specific ("Vids about Sam Wilson, please!"), very broad ("Please rec me your favorite pining fic"), or anything in between. Other folks reply with recs that fit the criteria. Self-reccing is welcome here, as long as it fits the request!
3. Community Recs Posts every Thursday, where anyone who wants to can comment with recs.
General guidelines:
Feel free to comment in replies to this post if you have questions or concerns!

3. Community Recs Posts every Thursday, where anyone who wants to can comment with recs.
General guidelines:
- All members may post recs. Become a member by clicking on the "Join Community" button in the header.
- All fandoms, ships, and kinks are welcome here. Read recced fics at your own risk.
- When reccing, please include fandom, ships, and medium (fic, art, etc). For visual media, also indicate whether it is SFW or NSFW. You are welcome to also include other information about the rec if you want (length, rating, tropes, content warnings, etc), but this is not required.
- Reccers are encouraged (but not required) to note if a fic is tagged with one or more AO3 major archive warnings: Rape/Noncon, Graphic Violence, Underage (sexual content involving a character under 18), Major Character Death. If it is not tagged with any warnings, you can also note that it is marked No Archive Warnings Apply.
- When making a Recs Post, please tag the post with the fandoms of the fanworks you're reccing. You can see a list of tags others have used here.
- Self-reccing is welcome on Requests Posts, where someone is looking for fanworks of X type. Self-reccing is not appropriate in Recs Posts or Community Recs Posts.
- Don't spam the comm. If you have multiple recs to make on a given day, put them all in one post rather than posting each one in its own post.
- Anonymous commenting is turned on, and anonymous recs are welcome in replies to Requests Posts and Community Recs Posts. You can also sign your anonymous comment if you want (for example if you don't have a DW account, but still want to participate under your own name).
- We define "fanwork" as a work made by a fan, ie a human being. Therefore AI-generated works are not appropriate for
recthething. If you are aware that a work was made by an AI, please do not rec it here.
- Trolling, harassment, and other bad behavior will be deleted, and the users banned from the comm.

On mobile, DW throws all of the navigation links (tags, profile, etc) to the bottom of the screen. So if you're on a phone and want to see which fandoms have been recced, you need to either type in the url manually, or do a lot of scrolling.
I'd find it very helpful. <3
