FANART

* Yoongi portrati by kthftjhope - An absolutely GORGEOUS fanart of Yoongi that combines his SUGA and AgustD personas PLUS tips a hat to this weekend's "Daechwita" performance at the Muster. The subtle use of color in an almost all black and white portrait is total chef's kiss.


* Untitled Namjoon Fanart by sassoooooooon18 - An all-encompasing piece based on Namjoon's solo song "Bicycle". On its own, the art is sweet. I love the details of Koya, crabs, and books--things that are super meaningful to Namjoon. Even better is him resting on one of his bonsai trees. :D


* "why are you crying? It's just a boy making a milkshake." The boy in question by _holixri_ - A realistic Yoongi fanart based on the 4/5/20 vlive (where he had to create a non-alcoholic drink.) It uses photorealism with added enhancements--like the detail of the heart--to give it a bit of whimsy.


* It was a long way for this Jungkookie to be presented by Severinlee1 - A bright and adorable portrait of Jungkook in a BUTTERRIFIC yellow dress. One of the things I liked was how his bright blue hair stands out even more than usual amid all that yellow.


FICS

* In Other Words | I Love You by pammie (G-rated, RM/Jimin, 12.8k) - Set many years in the future, spaceship mechanic!RM asks Jimin out right before the latter is going on a 6-month work trip.

Between the Space AU setting + the smidgen of possible magical reality (it's unclear whether or not RM does have technopathic powers), this story is ideal for those moments when you want to lose yourself into a world that's v. different from our own.

The mutual pining, the side stories, and the friendships also added a lot of enjoyment to the story. As for the asexual angle, it's a tad underdeveloped, imo, but addressed with care.


*spitting out random numbers by melodiousub (Teen, RM/Taehyung, 7k) - On a dare, RM ends up meeting with a 'psychic' so that he can make up his mind abt a life decision.

I really loved the Taehyung in this story: he's a total weirdo who is also sweet and tremendously handsome. Just like the public persona of the IRL!Taehyung, hahaha.

It was easy to see why RM was so mesmerized and confused by him.


* Safe and Sound by tracksdifferent (Explicit, Seokjin/Jungkook, 12.3k) - Friends to Lovers + (mild) Hyung kink AUs.

After they become intimate, Jungkook notices how quiet Jin is in bed.

Perfect story on EVERY LEVEL: characterization, setting, dialogue, banter, and sex. It's rare to find a story that can take all those things and make something wonderful, but this story certainly does!

One of the many, many reasons why I liked it a lot was the awkwardness around sex: both Seokjin and Jungkook would be super embarrassed whenever they tried to deal with things related to their naughty times, but that didn't keep them from communicating with each other. There was also a lot of laughter and love amid all the fun times. ;P

Reccer's Note: An AU that is a fun mix of fairy tale, fantasy, and romance. This was a very enjoyable read, the Joe and Nicky romance was very sweet, and the sex scenes were well written. Also, it features Booker as a shapeshifting weasel, which was a delight.

Ice splinters and sinks and clinks in Ango's glass. You think of a happy delusion that you cling to, stupidly and hypocritically - of three men sitting in this very bar, sharing the drink called friendship.

To be on the side of good is to save people. But being a good person doesn't mean saving people. Not quite.

Super angsty and painful because Dazai and Oda aren't allowed to have nice things together, haha; super good! There are glimpses of the other worlds Dazai sees in the Book, and he cares so much about Oda and tries so hard for him and it hurts very much. <3

Summary: The problem with CT Wei was, lamentably, not incompetence. Incompetence was a failing no one at the Gusu Bureau of Cultivation could forgive. Had he been incompetent, he would have already been dismissed from his position. No, the problem with CT Wei was far worse: he was friendly. (absolutely fabulous modern cultivation AU that's also hilariously snarky and delightful)

The Second Siege of Cloud Recesses by Cerusee (4k)
Summary: Did anyone ask for the Untamed AU where Wei Wuxian came back to life sixteen years later only to hear the tragic story, from Lan disciples at Mo’s Manor, how Lan Wangji had been whipped to death for defending the Yiling Patriarch? No. Did that stop me? No. (Believable what-if AU that's so, so painful but also very, very good)

my rivers tilt towards you by perfectlyrose (MDZS Reverse Big Bang, 27k)
Summary: The Cloud Recesses can only be found by those in need. Lan Wangji sets out from his ancestral home to see the world and collect knowledge for his sect. Wei Wuxian leaves Lotus Pier to try and ease the tension for his siblings, assuming it will be better if he's gone for a while. Their paths cross and merge for a time. When they part, neither of them expect Wei Wuxian's path to lead him to the gates of the legendary Cloud Recesses, in need of help. (This fairy tail-esque AU has wonderful worldbuilding and a truly engaging story)

Thirty-three Lashes by Winglesss (MDZS Reverse Big Bang, 56k)
Summary: Yiling Laozu is dead. He's been dead for over a thousand years. For over a thousand years Lan Wangji has been wandering the world alone, helping where he's needed. It's when he meets a mysterious cultivator and a strange curse starts to torment his body that the past and the present start to mingle, igniting emotions Lan Wangji almost forgot he was able to feel. (Fascinating modern cultivation yet mostly canon compliant AU)

This is awesome fic that could easily fit into the book. Great writing, perfect banter and truly captures the spirit and soul of these two and their relationship.

This was for a Holmestice exchange and the authors haven't been revealed yet, but this is an excellent slice of life post series fic, where Joan deals with her cancer and has Sherlock to support and love her. Really nails their characters and make the relationship feel organic and true.

The Loneliest People in the Galaxy and The Heroes From the Songs by IllegalCerebral (MCU, Loki & the Guardians of the Galaxy, T, ~25k each)
These are a fantastic series that explore how the GotG movies might have played out if, after his fall from the Bifrost, Loki was found by Peter Quill instead of Thanos. These are so fantastically written (especially the second one, which focuses on Loki and the Guardians returning to Jotenheim for a mission) and are a great exploration of Loki's character post-Thor and pre-Avengers. I usually don't want to write fic *about* a fic, but this universe the author created makes me want to explore it more! (and I walked away from these fics totally shipping Loki and Peter Quill, which probably wasn't the author's intentions lol)
