* Untitled Hobi's birthday's art by ZoroMins - What a vibrant piece. It reminds me of Lisa Frank's style, minus the unicorns, LOL.


* Untitled Hobi's birthday fanart by honey_night07 - This fanart, inspired by Hobi's first mixtape ("Hope World") is simple yet fun.


* Daydream by kiwiijoon - ALSO inspired by Hobi's mixtape (or, better said its lead single), this piece mixes a bit of magical realism in a way that fits the Hobi-vibe.


* UARMYHOPE by hotaruart - Super cute collage of drawings based on Hobi's insta. :P


* H<3BI by emecce -A fun piece that celebrates fashion icon!Hobi.

FICS

* Help! My Boyfriend is a Cat! [Not Clickbait] by cloudyworld (Rated Teen, RM/Yoongi, 8.7k) - A Canon AU in which Yoongi and RM have been together for a short while. Things are ramping up in their professional lives as BTS prepares for the next comeback only weeks away…

And then Yoongi is transformed into a cat.

Which, ngl, it's a v. cute idea. However, it goes from adorable to OH NOES v. quickly since no one knows why this happened and how to fix it.

In addition to that, we get some introspection from RM about his relationship with Yoongi and how coming out abt that to the rest of the group might change things forever. It's a mostly lighthearted fic worth checking out. ;)


* Paint Sticks, Poker, and a Very Good Boy by SunriseSeaMonster (Rated Teen, RM/Yoongi, 23k) - A non-idol AU in which RM has two jobs: at a museum and a paint counter.

One Friday, a v. cute customer shows up wanting to buy paint. He returns the next Friday and the one after that…

This is the kind of story with a seemingly neutral-yet-sweet premise that ended up surprising me with how good it was. Among the things I enjoyed were: the way that RM and Yoongi grow closer, the introduction of the rest of the guys, RM's unusual neighbor, and RM's own internal journey into understanding himself and healing some past wounds.

I most deffo actual!LOL'd more than once while reading this wonderful fic.

Back to my usual MDZS/The Untamed fic recs this week:

The Jade Chamber by raitala (18.5k)
Summary: Set in modern day London. As a member of the Gusu Institute, Lan Zhan plays his part on keeping the spiritual peace in the metropolis. Wei Ying left the Institute a long time ago, but from time to time they still work together and Lan Zhan mourns the closeness they once had. Lan Zhan calls Wei Ying in on a strange case at the British Museum. Events conspire to shatter the careful barriers they have erected. So much pining. Some case fic. Emotional rollercoaster with a happy ending. Some critique of the museum as an imperialist institution. (interesting world building in the modern-with-magic/cultivation AU and a plausible not quite something-made-them-do it but rather something-made-them-realize-they-wanted-to-do-it set up)

Ties by WithBroomBefore (series, 2 works, 16k total)
Summary of first work: Wei Wuxian collapses beautifully, like a player, because of course he fucking does. If Wen Qing did not know better, she would suspect him of faking it. (really interesting canon divergence-post Lotus Pier's fall but before the golden core transfer-fic with what happens if the transfer doesn't happen)

we all know they're both clowns: a college AU by colonelcatastrophe (4k)
Summary: Prompt: "Fluff, college AU, chaotic WWX, LWJ who doesn't want to mess up their friendship." (as it says on the tin this is fluff, utterly adorable fluff)

The Turtle in the Lanshi by Brierilee (1.6k)
Summary Snippet: Hanguang-Jun was an excellent teacher, really. Easily Jingyi’s favourite. And normally he really, really would be paying attention. It’s just… today, he just could not focus. He kept getting distracted by the turtle sitting on the desk behind Hanguang-Jun. (delightful story and hilarious Jingyi POV- vaguely based on a short bit from the novel but can be read without knowing about it)

Two fics I really enjoyed recently:

A Single Change, My Hero Academia
156k, gen, sequel in progress
Izuku has two mentors in this one: All Might, and Hawks. I really enjoyed all the slow relationship development in this.

A Bolt of Silk, Naruto
134k, Uchiha Izuna/merchant!OFC, series in progress
From the PoV of a merchant daughter who hires shinobi and that comes with complications. I really enjoyed especially all the explorations of class issues in this.
