Summary: Lan Zhan looks at him, his gaze assessing. Then, slowly, he drops his hand to his hip. He unbuckles his sword from where it’s hanging from a leather belt, and lifts it to place it on the kitchen counter just outside his easy reach. “I’m here to ask for your help. Not compel you. I believe Wen Chao, and perhaps others in his sect, have been somehow perverting cultivation with the influence of the supernatural. The undead, specifically.”
Wei Ying takes an entirely unnecessary breath. “My influence, you mean.” (great modern-with cultivation + vampire AU with interesting world building)

Summary: Wei Ying is lounging in the middle of the market place when he sees a rogue cultivator being shouted at for an unknown reason. Naturally, he has to get involved. (this 2020 fic was supposed to be first in an AU series where eye color tells of your past and those with darker eye color are considered distrustful but while no other stories were written for it, it still works well as a stand alone)
