Dual Rebirth by floof Word Count: 37,818 words Fandom: Supernatural Rating: E Warnings: Graphic violence, Major Character Death (referenced death is Dean's canonical death in season 3) Relationships: Sam/Cas Summary: Castiel Novak has always been haunted by dreams of things he can’t explain. Still, he has a good life, and isn’t too lonely - he’s got his twin Jimmy and his dog Gracie, if no one else. All that changes when a drunken drifter, Sam, interrupts his quiet little life. It remains to be seen if Sam makes things be better or worse. A season 3.5 AU. Reccer's Note: An alternative season 4, in which Castiel chooses to fall from heaven like Anna, and be raised as human, and he meets Sam in the months after Dean's death in season 3 when he was a mess. It was an interesting concept, the author does a great job conveying what Castiel's angel memories would be like, and how he never feels quite right as a human. The love story between Sam and Cas is lovely, but also bittersweet. When Cas learns that he is angel, and thinks that he must leave Sam, it is emotional. Also, the author does a great job writing Balthazar, she gets his voice and personality right, which many writers in the fandom seem to struggle with.
