Post-apocalyptic AU (sort of), featuring incredible world-building and plot, incredible character and relationship development, and some of the most honest and powerful explorations of trauma I've ever read in fic.

Notes: This is a very long, very heavy fic, and although the violence (sexual and otherwise) is not graphically described, the experience (and resulting PTSD) is a driving force behind many of the characters' journeys, and is an inescapable presence throughout the whole fic.
That said, there are a great many tender, soft, and triumphant moments throughout, and it is, as a whole, a story about hope and overcoming adversity and oppression of all kinds. So have faith that it ends with everyone in a happier and healthier place than they begin.
