Summary Snippet: Wei Wuxian uses a powerful array to go back in time and builds a secret squad to prevent the misfortunes of the future. (I've been following this time travel fix it since early 2020 and it's finally complete! WWX time travels back to his missing three months and the entire war and rebuilding afterwards is different as a result. It's a great, if quite long, read)

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes by TakePenAndInk (formerly Kate_Lear) [archive locked]

Since the final series of Endeavour is airing, I want to recommend this excellent series. It's Morse/DeBryn, and is basically character study of DeBryn as a gay man in the 1960s, sliding into a full retelling of the first three series from his POV as he and Morse fall in love (slowly, and with many stops and starts; it's Morse, after all). DeBryn is very much himself: smart, sarcastic, not prone to taking any shit, while Morse is inscrutable and brilliant as always. I really enjoy the way canon events are woven into the relationship narrative, especially the end of season 2 (Morse is arrested and spends several weeks in jail because of corruption; DeBryn comes to a very wrong but extremely logical conclusion, and then quietly angsts about it).

Content warning for a very unflinching depiction of societal and systemic homophobia in 1960s Britain, and the way that affects the main characters. It's not misery porn by any means--DeBryn actually has a lot less internalized homophobia than you might expect from the setting--but it also doesn't sugarcoat it.

Summary: Izzy only shares Edward and Bonnet's bed when asked. Still, it shouldn't have taken him so long to notice the old caning scars that Bonnet bears. It doesn't make sense, based on what Izzy assumes about Bonnet's comfortable life before running away to sea. But as Edward says, everyone has their scars.
Reccer's Note: This a has a fair bit of sexy times, which is very enjoyable, but what I liked about this fic was Izzy trying to understand Stede better in his own gruff way, and finding an unexpected connection between them.

Rec: A Ripple in the Force (SW, multi, action/adventure AU)

Discovered this while randomly scrolling through people's bookmarks:

A Ripple in the Force by ShaeTiann, in which Obi-Wan Kenobi Falls during the battle against Maul, but saves Qui-Gon. He is kicked out of the Jedi Order, and ends up as a freelance con artist/mercenary/bounty hunter, working in the gray areas of the Force and building his own found family, while he slowly discovers the existence of Sidious and investigates the long history of the Sith.

The action is great, the characterizations strong, and ShaeTiann has a good handle on where the story is going. It's not short, but it is well-written and the first part is complete.

Rating: Teen, with a variety of non-explicit sexual relationships, including Obi-Wan/Hondo

Good stuff, recommended.
