* the dust of daily life by loquaiciousEscapist (Rated Teen, RM/Yoongi, 41.8k) - Non-Idol AU in which Yoongi is a successful museum curator who has this intense enimity with a specific art critic who keeps posting rather mean articles abt Yoongi's exhibitions. There's also this one cute dude that Yoongi has a mild crush on but has never talked to. (Yes, RM is both the art critic Yoongi has not idea what he looks like AND the cute fella, haha.)

This is a low-stakes fic (again, NOTHING BAD HAPPENS in the fic. The conflict is all internal (if that makes sense)). It's also perfect if you've ever wanted to know what working in a museum is like. The mood is v. take Fandom to Work in a way that's interesting. All of the Tannies are around and they're fun too!

As usual, two MDZS/Untamed fic recs from me today but with the added accidental theme of Modern-With-Cultivation AU:

Summary Snippet: Lan Wangji falls in love with the spirit that haunts his dreams. (Modern-with-cultivation AU where Lan Wangji encounters a spirit with two, very contradictory, reputations)

There's An App For Everything by Sweetlittlevampire (4k)
Summary: During the Cultivation Youth Games, Wei Wuxian from YunmengJiang and Lan Wangji from GusuLan get paired up to take down a yao to win points for their respective teams. Which wouldn't be a problem, if Lan Wangji wasn't painfully aware of his big fat crush on Wei Wuxian.

It might, in fact, be more than just a crush. The yao decides to interfere, but thankfully, Wei Wuxian...has an app for that. (short, cute modern-with-cultivation AU fic)

I don't tend to properly bookmark something until it's finished updating, so I thought maybe this would be a good spot to rec WiPs I'm subscribed to that updated this week.

Pretty (Awful) Man by StedeBunnett (Our Flag Means Death, Modern AU, Izzy Hands/Lucius Spriggs, rated E, 24k words to date) is now up to 7 chapters of a Pretty Woman AU. It preserves the canon age gap but plays with the power dynamics in a fun way by casting Lucius—a young entrepreneur who just made it big with an inclusive lingerie business—as the millionaire sugar daddy and Izzy as the sex worker he inadvertently picks up while trying to ask directions. After a hot Boyfriend Experience encounter, Lucius hires Izzy to keep him company during his business trip and to pose as a business associate so that the older investors he's pitching to will take him seriously. The two then end up bonding over shared experiences of moving in circles they don't feel at home in and playing roles in their work lives.

This is a sweet, good-natured story so far, featuring an Izzy who's actually doing pretty well in life, with a career under his own control, but whose usual way of doing things is thrown off-kilter by a client who wants something different than the usual slap and tickle—and a Lucius who's new to navigating power dynamics where he has the upper hand.

For some Fanfic: If you read Check, Please!, you probably have fallen for Jack & Bitty, the two main characters. But for me, I'm all about NurseyDex - Derek "Nursey" Nurse/William "Dex" Poindexter. Well, I saved an ultra-long fic for a rainy day, and when we lost power for 4 days, that's when I had the time to properly read & enjoy this fic. Now it's not just a NurseyDex fic; it's also a Holsom (Adam "Holster" Birkholtz/Justin "Ransom" Oluransi) fic that actually starts out with Holster and Nursey pining for their best friends, Dex & Ransom - and end up sleeping together. But in the end, it IS a HEA after all, so it ends with Holsom & NurseyDex. I feel like NurseyDex gets the most attention, which is fine with me. I'm pretty much a NurseyDex fanfiction goon. ::happy sigh::

So much angst in this fic, but it's so, so good!
