A rec-in-progress (aka a rec for an active WiP):

Cuffing Season by StedeBunnett (Our Flag Means Death, Modern Omegaverse AU, Izzy Hands/Lucius Spriggs, rated E, 16k words to date) is currently up to 7/? chapters of unexpected romance and omegaverse smut.

It features omega!Lucius going into heat for the first time after a traumatic incident and approaching an agency to find a temporary partner who isn't going to retraumatize him. The only candidate is alpha!Izzy, who due to his age, size, disability, and penchant for being tied up is seen as less of a threat—and who is experiencing a serious hit to his self-esteem after being left by his partner following the loss of his leg. The two prove surprisingly compatible over the course of an intimate couple of days, with the story playing in the space of power dynamics, service kink, and relationship roles. This is a Lucius who gets to reconnect with a way of being that he once loved and was scared away from, and an Izzy who gets to be a very good boy and valued for qualities that have nothing to do with mobility or physical intimidation. Very sweet, funny and hot so far.
