Community Recs Post! (And Rectember comments)

Hey all! First, I just want to give a huge shout out to everyone who participated in Rectember. Thank you to all the people who recced, the people who commented on the recs posts, and the people who followed the recs and found new fanworks to enjoy. If you didn't get around to posting all the recs you intended, never fear, themed recs are always welcome to be posted to the comm at any time, no excuse necessary. :) And if you want to look at the themes again, you can find them all here.

I'm just really pleased to see so many folks get a little more comfortable with posting recs here. I saw a lot of new names, yay. Now that you're in the habit, feel free to post recs to the comm anytime. ;) If you have a theme of your own or just a single rec to share, you are always welcome to post them to the comm!

I will probably do a pop-up recs week every few months, just for something different. If you really liked that style of reccing and would like to do it more often, you should check out fancake, a reccing comm that has a theme every month.

I've kind of gotten to like the tradition of posting a handful of Leverage recs each week to the community recs post, lol. What will I do when I actually get to the end of reading them and have no more? (I still have 50 pages on AO3 to wade through, so that might be a bit, especially at the rate I'm going. I'm doling them out to myself as rewards for getting through a chunk of Yahoo Groups metadata processing, lol, the ongoing task I've been doing for months.)

Anyway, have two Leverage recs that I read this week and really enjoyed:

Disgustingly Rich Brownies for Disgustingly Rich Thieves by Meatball42 (622 words)
A funny Eliot baking fic. (And the author includes the recipe in the comments, for anyone feeling like baking some very decadent brownies.)

A lovely Nate/Sophie pre-series fic from Sophie's POV.

Accidental OT3 Marriage by There_Once_Was_A_Girl

Reccer's Note: A fun fic about McSpirk accidentally getting married on an alien planet, what they think is a friendship ceremony is actually not. Throw in the having to share a bed trope, and them not being able to get the marriage annulled right away, and it leads to fluffy, sweet fic.

and autumn comes when you're not yet done by tired. Summary snippet: in which Lan Sizhui is forced to stay in Lotus Pier for three weeks, and saves Jiang Cheng in more ways than one. Turns out stab wounds heal faster than 16 years of regret. (wonderful Jiang Cheng becoming an uncle to Sizhui fic) 36k

Summary: This was why he didn’t like to leave the Unclean Realm, Nie Mingjue thought with dismay. Guileless dark eyes blinked up at him, tiny hands clutching at his robes. (excellent AU with WWX still following the familiar canon path, but for very different reasons and the interplay between him and the Nie brothers is wonderful) 57k

* Squishy Koo by akonomarts JK pencil art that's simply too beautiful.


* Cat hybrid!Yoongi by squishieyoogie - A cute fanart of kitty!Yoongi posing for a photo. I love the detail of his tail.


* Jungkook/Jimin Makeouts by ni_nod_y Not-quite-NSFW, buuut the mood of the entire thing is v. makeout-heavy. I really love the closeness and gentleness throughout the piece.


* Vampire Jin by Little_Luxray - Keeping in theme with the Halloween vibe, here's Jin as a Vampire Dandy. I love the details of his eyes and how his lips are highlighted.


* Taehyung/Yoongi + Flowers by BCrushed - An extremely sweet portrait of Yoongi and Taehyung surrounded by flowers. I also like the colors and both Taete and Yoongi's poses.


* V portrait by TaiSia_pa - A piece that's both artsy and DRAMATIQUE, i.e. exactly like Taehyung whenever he's on the stage. :D

So delighted to see a variety of recs getting made to a community again! I've always relied heavily on recs to find content and found quite a few things I enjoyed (and re-shared) last month.

hetswap reveals happened recently and I would definitely recc my gift! It's original fiction about a superhero and his nemesis who knows his one weakness. It has some really fun worldbuilding! It's explicit, so please mind the tags: Lines We Trace.

I would also recc this Bucky/Nat MCU fic Don't Shoot the Messenger. It's an AU where Nat gets to Bucky first before Steve, and I love the heart-pounding action, as well as the tension between them.
