I just had to rec this Good Omens fic, which was written for the recent round of Just Married fanwork exchange.

A Time You May Embrace by AstroGirl. Aziraphale/Crowley, 24.3k length, Explicit rating.

Author's summary: Word has come down from on high: there is a new Great Plan, one in which Aziraphale and Crowley have a part to play. But it's a part they'd much rather play on their own schedule and without an audience.

An arranged marriage, a bit of humour, and Those Two figuring out a way to get things done on their own terms. I found it very fun and delightful, and the romantic bits were really sweet. The fic's a good length to chew on - to be clear, the R-18 portion is a section toward the end of it; most of the story is Feelings and Dealing With The New Plan and awkward collaborations between the two sides.

These are all fics I read in the past month and enjoyed or found interesting enough to add to my database. I've been a bit busy between Yahoo Groups Fandom Identification and work so there hasn't been much time for reading fic. :)

  1. [ART] The Traitor. The King. The Sorcerer by Eisvogel1. "I wanted to draw Arthur, Merlin and Mordred inspired by Alphonse Mucha's style. A little bit of art nouveau that got mashed up with some celtic knots, an out of place raven, a staff borrowed from LotR, cloak from elsewhere"

  2. [Vid] A Cowboy's Love by lilly_the_kid. A Mandalroian episodic vid about Din Djarin and Cobb Vance. I don't see many episodic vids anymore and this one was wonderfully put together.

  3. Syndication by scioscribe. "In this week's episode, Wanda and Vision help the boys with their history homework, and Wanda worries about the quality of education they're getting. [Rerun.]" Brief ficlet that fits seamlessly into the series premise.

  4. goal-oriented projects by rosepetalfall. Perfect little pre-OT3 fic of White Collar's El/Peter/Neal with bonus Trek fusion setting.

  5. The Order of The Avengers by petite madame. Incredible artwork of a dozen Avengers in fantasy Renaissance garb.

Every Thursday, we have a community recs post, just like this one, where you can drop a rec or five in the comments. This works great if you only have one rec and don't want to make a whole post for it, or if you don't have a DW account to make posts of your own, or if you're shy. ;)

(But don't forget, you can deffo make posts of your own seven days a week. :D!)

So what cool fic/podfic/fanart/fanvid have we discovered this week? Leave a comment below. Anon comment is enabled.

I had too many feelings about fanart and wanted to share the culprits. Post is here and features:
  • Ron and his scars, HP
  • 19 MCU pieces, among which: SamBucky, Loki (several of them) and Lokius, SteveTony, a lone and hot Steve, dad Tony, Tony and Nat being pretty, Stephen/Stephen variant.
  • 21 Sk8 the Infinity pieces, among which: Kaoru/Kojiro being sweet and hot not always at the same time, Reki/Langa illustration of one of [personal profile] soulstoned's fics, a gen piece, a seasonal one featuring four ships and a lot of Ainosuke/Tadashi because they stole my brain.
  • 3 Yuri!!! on Ice: Yuuri carrying a baby and 2 OtaYuri pieces of goodness.
  • Other fandoms: various Star Trek, Good Omens, The Chair, portraits of the golden SWOT trio and Jujutsu Kaisen's Gojo Satoru.

A lot of them are NSFW but no images are imbedded in the post itself and none of the pieces fall under any Archive Warnings, proceed at will!

I love all of these so much, I hope you will too!

    yourlibrarian: Gwen Over Shoulder (MERL-GwenOverShoulder-ella_rose88)
    [personal profile] yourlibrarian

    1. Reprise Series by Elfpen. Star Wars first trilogy. As much as I enjoy time travel as a story type, I have found there is such a thing as too many of them. So what I really enjoyed about this one is the way it defies expectations.

So many time travel stories are fixits which focus heavily on changing key issues in a timeline. I suspect many a reader feels like Mace does, wondering when Ben will give up his secrets and set new pathways in motion. But I really enjoyed seeing that Ben himself needs help in reconciling himself to this role he's been put in, and healing the damage of the past. And I also really loved how his mission dovetailed with getting a new future in motion. An intriguing read that's all about character development and a reminder that when someone returns to the past, a new future is already in motion and extreme caution is needed.

    2. Gwen's Guide to Happiness by jules_evan (julien_avec_rien). "Gwen's fine. Well, she's okay. She could be happier, in her own opinion. But how does one go about getting happier? Fortunately, she has lots of friends to whom she can pose her question: what's the secret to happiness?" Pretty much what it says on the tin. Yet this fic was wonderfully unusual in its thoughtful approach to the question, matching points of view with the various characters, and being very true to Gwen's character as well. Also, a Merlin fic centered on Gwen! Not to be overlooked.

    3. A Chorus of Ordinary Women by kalima, Star Trek Kelvin verse exploration of how things on Hellguard might have turned out differently. Rather tough subject matter and I skipped ahead in one place, but nonetheless rewarding read with both many OCs and a lot of focus on Spock/Uhura. I think the Epilogue proves how connected one becomes to the new characters.

    4. when you wake by sevenfoxes. Captain America.MCU. Time loops are a favorite trope for me, which means I particularly appreciate it when someone does something different with it. Extended ones are a variation for longer stories but I had yet to run into one where the resets might occur at different points in time instead of the same one. It made the story more of a roads-not-traveled sort of tale than one about correcting particular mistakes. And I loved the ending.

    5. when you make it seem, enchanted by somethingaboutwriting. "In a black-and-white television show with a ridiculously small audience, Merlin reunites with his fiancé Arthur Pendragon in the 1950s. This is completely normal, and has nothing to do with how long Merlin has had to wait for the Once and Future King to return. WandaVision AU" Once I read it, it surprised me that I hadn't already thought about how perfectly the series premise would lend itself to an Arthur returns fic.

My life's gotten busy enough, though, that I won't be able to make weekly posts, so I'm switching to a monthly schedule. I'll next post on one of the last weekends of August.
