(All fic) These are my favorites--at least, the ones on AO3.

Syllepsis, by Paian (Stagate SG-1)
Daniel is working alone at Jack's house when Jack's ex-wife turns up. Sara recognizes the truth about Jack and Daniel's relationship immediately. Her conversations with Daniel and then Jack are beautiful and moving and cathartic. The Jack/Daniel sex that follows is gorgeously written.

Lovely and Tatters, by Martha  (The Sentinel, Stargate SG-1, Angel:The Series, Cthulhu mythos)
I don't like horror. At all. But horror by Martha is an exception, and exceptional. This series actually starts with Unsleeping, set in The Sentinel, which introduces the Lovecraftian element. But I love the SG-1, Sentinel, and Angel teams and the way they interact. Marha shows us a Daniel Jackson hurt and on the run, lets Jim and Blair come to his rescue, calls in SG-1, and then brings Angel and his team in to confront the apocalypse. The relationship between Jack and Daniel is tender and sexy, as is the relationship between Jim and Blair. The Angel team is as weird and funny and heroic as always. But the best thing about this series is the way it shows us how these very different people look to each other.

freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose, by synecdochic (Stargate Atlantis)
Post-series. John is dead. Rodney has to build a life in academia without him. He struggles, not just for a bearable life but for a meaningful way to share the lessons he has learned with his proteges. Stunningly smart, beautiful story.

September Song, by Kat Allison (Highlander)
The world is slowly sliding toward the end times. Methos visits Duncan's barge in Paris to talk and to make love in the face of apocalypse. Given our times, this cuts to the bone. Read it anyway. It's a genuine classic.

The Unvictorious Ones, by quercus (Stargate SG-1)
The Tollans ask Daniel Jackson to help assess the conditions on a planet where ethnic cleansing is reminiscent of the Cambodian horrors. Jack and Paul Davis accompany Daniel. There's a dreamy quality to this story that helps to alleviate the terrors of what the men witness. This is an idealized Daniel whom Jack deeply loves, which may be why Jack is the one who is most traumatized by their experience.

grounded, by Pares/kormantic (Stargate SG-1)
By now you need some humor. This is my favorite. It's Jack/Daniel, and it's sexy, smart, and funny. I love it.

I can't count the number of times I've read these fics… I've got lots of favorites, but all of the ones on this list are ones I will just browse to on my hard drive (I save everything I like reading) and pull up to read, because I remember the author and title straight off, lol.

I left out anything that was a perma-WIP, or where I couldn't pick even just *one* of the many fics I love by an author. Those are better suited for a thorough recs post on another day.

Leverage )

The Lord of the Rings (books) )

The Matrix )

The Pretender )

Rizzoli & Isles )

Rookie Blue )

Smallville )

Sue Thomas F.B.Eye )

X-Men Original Movieverse )

I ended up skipping Alphas and Push entirely because as much as I enjoy re-reading fics from those fandoms, I have a lot of "I love reading these" rather than a few really strong standouts - or in the case of Alphas, I have one that I'm saving for the rarepair post I'll get to another day.

And I couldn't even *try* to come up with a list for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. I've read and re-read SO MANY of the fics over the years (it was one of my first fandoms) that the list would be ridiculously long. Suffice it to say, I'll have to make a recs list just for that fandom sometime. But that might be a while, lol.

My first proper post here so have some of the Torchwood fics I’ve read over and over, and never grown tired of.

Mostly they’re short one-shots of the fluff variety… All are hosted on livejournal.

There Is A Room That Never Stays Put by birdsflying

Summary: There is one room in The Hub that doesn't stay where it ought to.

I love this for the gentle atmosphere it creates, and for Ianto’s faith that he will be found.

Distract Them by tanarian (Crossover with Doctor Who)

Summary: Never believe the Doctor when he says it's just one trip and nothing can go wrong...

Ianto is awesome, without even realising it.

Unforeseen Risk Elements by tanarian

Summary: Ianto always worries when he gets ‘those’ calls from Jack.

Jack does some fast-talking to get himself out of trouble with Ianto.

Ghost in This Hub by jadesfire

Summary: Something's not quite right at Torchwood Three, but it's taking the team a while to get to the bottom of it.

Another Ianto-centric fic. Sort of.

It’s Business Time by lone_star_woman

Summary: Awww, yeah! Wednesday night is the night that they usually make love.

This one never fails to make me laugh. Poor Jack!

Adam by invisible_lift

Nothing to do with the episode of the same name, this six-part fic deals with what happens when Ianto is mysteriously replaced with an almost identical replica. It breaks my heart every time I read it, and yet I keep coming back to it.
