A grab bag of fanworks I've reread or rewatched so many times I've lost count. :D

* The Chav!verse series by [archiveofourown.org profile] delires (Inception (2010), Arthur/Eames, 49k across 8 stories)- An AU in which Arthur and Eames meet under naughty circumstances. I love the characterizations, how much is different vs. familiar w/r/t the canon, and it's also LOLARIOUS and sensual.

* The Anatomy of a Fall by [archiveofourown.org profile] novembersmith (Bandom RPF (My Chemical Romance), Frank/Gerard, 107k words) - Long considered one of the Bandom RPF "classics", it's easy to see why: this is a spooky and tender YA-type of story. The readers get to know the high school versions of My Chemical Romance, how they become friends, etc. By the time the Frank/Gerard angle begins to appear, readers are swept into a story that's both bigger and way more intimate than expected.

* Good by [livejournal.com profile] jarrow (Hairspray (2007))- A truly feelgood fanvid that will make you shimmy.

* Midnight Sun by Parillayoung. (The Fall TV Show) Pairings: Stella Gibson/Feminism, Stella/James Olson, Stella/Tom Anderson, Stella/Dr. Reed Smith, Unrequited Stella/Jim Burns, Stella/Danielle Ferrington, one-sided Paul Spector/Stella, Stella/Larkin, Eastwood/Common Sense (LOL).

[Content warning for this video: Lots of curse words from the v. start and also a few sexual situations.

Also, Jim Burns tries to assault Stella at 1:16 to 1:18 (she deflects the attack). Burns is shown from 1:35 to 1:36 with a bloody nose.]

One of the reasons I lurve this fanvid is that it shows the canonically bisexual character of Stella Gibson be sexual without any judgement. Sometimes there are hookups as well as potential dalliances. Occasionally, a character or two will misread Stella's interest. It's a fanvid that's honest about a female character's sexuality without having to excuse or compromise her behavior. Oh, and what a killer song!

* Fucked My Way Up by iamoverjoyed (The Fall TV show) Pairings: Stella/James Olson, one-sided Paul Spector/Stella Gibson

[Content warning for this video: Quick scene from 1:21 to 1:32 that includes a drawing of a naked woman in a submissive position and a fast shot of a bound and gagged woman on a bed. Stella Gibson drops an F-bomb at 1:31.]

This one is a bit darker than the earlier one, but it's also my faaaaave one for The Fall. Everything from the many parallels between Stella Gibson and Paul Spector to the journey they both take (as well as the price they both pay for pursuing their individual goals.) It doesn't hide from the nastiness in their realities, but it doesn't celebrate it either. Plus the editing, f/x, and song choice are such PERFECTION, I can't even.

* The Test by [archiveofourown.org profile] heresluck (Star Trek (2009), Kirk/Spock)

Let me begin by saying that I don't even go here. Anything I know about ST (TV shows and movies) is from fannish osmosis (this isn't an invitation to get recced for it, I'm just trying to state where I'm coming from.) And yet, THIS IS MY FAVE FANVID EVERRRR. It's got the K/S slash, masterful editing, layers upon layers of maintext and subtex, and a fantastic song choice. It's THE fanvid for me (even though, again, I'm not in the fandom, LOL.)

Another one that I've enjoyed again and again.... :D

Counterpoint by Kanadka is a delightful Aziraphale/Crowley fic in which these two enjoy a waltz together.

At only ~560 words, it's bite-sized, but I've re-read it several times because it's always sure to put me in a good mood. Banter! Historical setting! Lots of feelings and things left unsaid. Lovely.

SPN Women by marts, a short little vid about all the women of Supernatural, I love the music choice, and all the ladies looking sexy and badass.

A few of my favorite fanvids that definitely deserve more attention (including rare pairs!) in no particular order:

Closer | The Expanse (TV) | Ladies in space! This is a shippy f/f Camina Drummer/Naomi Nagata vid. It's upbeat and fun and it highlights the tension between them on the show. Really great use of the song. Plus, I can never get enough of Camina. (Warning for Camina pictured with a bloody nose at the very end)

Bring Me a Dream | Peaky Blinders | This is a gorgeous Tommy/Grace vid. The editing has this dream-like quality that fits perfectly with the song, and I love the use of voice-overs. This balances the angst and romance of their relationship (Warning for canon typical violence and canon character death).

Wild One | Channing Tatum Tribute | Okay, this video is just as fun and wacky as it sounds! I didn't even realize how many Channing Tatum films I actually love until I watched this. It's a wild, well-edited ride. I rewatch this one for a pick-me-up all the time (Warning for scenes with Channing's bare ass. Although, maybe that's an enticement?).

Raise (a little hell) | Women's Curling | I knew nothing about curling, but this video instantly drew me in! The edits really flow and tell the underdog story of this super awesome team, and the song is really great. There's even a sports joke in the title that I now understand!

Out of Promises | MCU | This is a Bucky/Natasha or Bucky&Natasha video that explores all of the backstory/history that I wish was explored in canon. There are so many parellels between their experiences, and this angsty vid captures them all (Warning for canon typical violence and ambiguous ending).

Saved | MCU/Wonder Woman Crossover | The Manips! The effects! The editing! The music! This video brings Diana and Steve Rogers together in a truly fantastic way and I am in awe every time I watch it.

I don't have a lot of rarepairs to recommend, as either the fandoms are so rare that any fic for it is rare, or the rarepair fics were not my favorites for various reasons, but here's a handful of excellent ones.

[Alphas - Lee/Rachel] Six Kisses of Rachel Pirzad by Teyerin (3468 words)
At first the idea of this relationship raised my eyebrows very high - but by the time I finished reading, I was smiling at it. It's an interesting one!

[Rookie Blue - Dov/Gail] To hell with it by JadeSelena (7654 words)
A S2 fix-it for a pairing the show only used as a means of breaking up Chris/Gail. (What a waste of screen time when you could have this!)

[Rookie Blue - Dov/Gail/Chris] A Series Of (Un)fortunate Events by amathela (8290 words)
Not only are there very few fics for these three together, this fic has them as a poly vee ship, which is a rare version in the fandoms I've read so far (admittedly, I haven't seen a ton of poly ships in my favorite fandoms), with Gail as the pivot. It's all very fluffy.

[Sue Thomas F.B.Eye - Myles/Tara] WNE 1: Weekend in New England by aubreysmom (23459 words)
This fic was the one that got me to see the potential in Myles/Tara. I've seen those two that way ever since. It's not *exactly* shippy but it feels shippy enough to me, and the sequel to it is most definitely shippy. (You can find the sequel from the author's profile, but it's definitely a part 2 of 3, and they never wrote the third… This one can stand on its own.)

The rarest of rarepairs for STFBE I would share a link to (it's a Myles/Sue fic!!!), but it was only hosted on RomanticFanfiction.com (which went down years ago) and since one had to log in to read the fics there, none of them were saved in the Wayback Machine. Back in the day I painstakingly copied it into an epub to re-read (and I'm really glad I did, now), because it's super well-written. It was called Surrogate and written by JoM. Mentioning here out of honor for the rarity and the great writing.

[X-Men Original Movieverse - Scott/Ororo] Loss of Composure series by Diana / Titaniafae / Dee / viscerate (no wordcount available)
I've seen this author's stuff in at least three or four different places with a different name each time, so I'm really not sure which nick they prefer! But no matter which it is, this series is really well-done and was one of a tiny handful of fics that taught me to love Scott/Ororo. I linked to the overall fanfic page because it has the whole series all linked together there and in the correct reading order, and the fics themselves aren't linked one to each other.

Happy reading!
