Here be your weekly BTS recs. \o?

* _baba_jk made this really neat fanart of Suga painting w/bonus!Shooky [Context: there have been some videos (some up to an hour) in which Suga painted something that's believed to be tied to BTS' upcoming album. Shooky is an animated character, designed by Suga,from a BTSxBT21 collabo featuring 7 characters based on each BTS member.]

* 4prkjmn did adorbs fanvid of Jimin with some National Geographic narration.

And now 3 fics that are total AUs so no canon knowledge is necessary:

* ddal-gi by gokurakuji is a 4.7k PWP that's both hot and sweet. Jimin returns home only to find Taehyung, his boyfriend, feeling wonky due to his (Taehyung) period. Cue some period sex. Also, Taehyung is a transgender dude in this fic.

* This moment for life by misspamela is a 22.1k fic in which Yoongi and Jungkook go from one-time hookup to Friends to Boyfrands. I loved the way the relationship developed as well as the friendship between Yoongi, RM, and Jin.

* A Gilded World by smiles is one of THE classic fics for the Yoongi/Jin ship. This 175k story features Arranged Marriage + Chaebol AU. If you like Kdramas, there might be something for you here. ;)

Waiting for a Friend is Pokémon Detective Pikachu gen fic about Tim after the events of the film. It's a very quiet, increasingly powerful story about getting through grief and reconnecting, with lots of lovely little in-world details.

I don't know who wrote it! The fandom5k challenge is still in its anon period.

I was amused by this Merlin comic by Mary Luis because it reminded me of how often I've seen fanfic writers complain of this.

I made two posts full of fanart recs earlier today.

The first post was centered around fanart recs for BingQiu Week 2020 (Scum Villain).

The second post was for art I saw and liked while compiling the links for the first post. Fandoms include: 2HA, Sailor Moon, Scum Villain, TGCF, Thousand Autumns, Non-Fandom / Original Art.

Yay, thank you for reccing! I'm tagging the post with fandoms people mention, and I was wondering if I ought to tag 2HA and TGCF using those acronyms, or if there's a better tag for me to use for those.

oh god, I'm not sure if I'm the best person to ask about this;;; But I'll do my best!

TGCF is short for "Tian Guan Ci Fu", which is the canon name that the AO3 fandom tag uses. I think using that should be fine? The fan translation has the title as "Heaven Official's Blessing", which people should probably also recognize.

With 2HA, I mostly see people using either "2HA" (which is a shorthand for a rather long original title) or an English translation of the title. I've seen a few variations on how the title's translated, but the version AO3 uses is "The Husky and His White Cat Shizun". The main fan translator has it as "Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun". I don't speak Chinese, so I don't know which version is more accurate, but either of the two should be recognizable to fans of the canon.

It really is. I love how it's the counterpart to the first fic so we're getting Nat's story first, and getting invested in her life, and then we get his role in her story. Her story is so positive and uplifting that at least I found myself thinking it was a good trade, even though it was sad for Tony.

But also I'm a sucker for Pepper/Tony. :)

My favorite story I read so far from the Fandom5k exchange:

No one in their right mind would ever seriously try to woo Lin Ronghu, the Emperor's infamously ruthless (if unofficial) spymaster.
Not that that's stopped the local legend, a (self-described) beautiful detective with peerless martial arts. His crush is a major inconvenience - at least until there's a murder that puts Lin Ronghu's most hated political nemesis straight in the frame. Since Lin Ronghu can't believe that anyone would be that stupid, he decides that maybe having a private detective around might be good for something after all...


And my favorite (so far) from the Nonconathon:

Lord Raith offers Harry to Thomas as a gift, bound and naked. And if either Thomas or Harry are going to survive, it's a gift Thomas has to accept.

It's an old fic but new to me, this great gen Bucky Barnes story set between the ending of The Winter Soldier and before Civil War, that jumps between his war time experience and him as the Winter Soldier. Really really good. Digs into Bucky's jewish identity, myths and stories of the golem, PTSD and surviving wartime.
